Alison and Jennifer are both Jewish day school development professionals who recently planned and executed successful milestone celebrations for their schools-both work at small schools (one under a hundred students and one under 125 students) with small development teams.

Jennifer Scher, Director of Institutional Advancement
Gesher Jewish Day School
Jennifer Scher has worked at Gesher JDS since 2014 though she has been a proud Gesher JDS parent since 2013. As a Jewish Professional for 15 years, Jennifer has spent the majority of her professional and personal family life engaged in the strengthening of Jewish life and community in Northern Virginia (NoVA). Prior to her professional role at Gesher JDS, Jennifer served in numerous roles at the Jewish Federation of Greater Washington starting with her first position focusing on Northern Virginia outreach and engagement which lead up to her position as Federation’s Director of the Create a Jewish Legacy endowment program.
Jennifer holds a BS in Human Ecology with a focus on Early Childhood Education from The Ohio State University (Go Bucks!). She lives in Fairfax with her husband Michael, their three children; Xander, Maya, and Dina and their new puppy, Mona.
Alison Walter, Development Director,
Jewish Community Day School of Rhode Island
Alison has been in Development both professionally and as a volunteer for the past 20 years. She worked at Combined Jewish Philanthropies in Boston in Women’s Philanthropy and was the first Development Director at the Metrowest Jewish Day School in Framingham, MA.
Alison holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Maryland. She also has a Masters of Social Work and Masters of Jewish Studies. Over the past 5 years she has also staffed Israel trips for moms through Momentum!
